How to Remove a Harley Seat
Harley-Davidson motorcycles come in a variety of styles and configurations. With five different model families, there is sure to be one to please virtually any taste. Many of the maintenance procedures, though, regardless of the model, begin with the same task: the removal of the seat. Fortunately, this task is relatively simple to perform, and mastery is essential. It should take only three to five minutes to remove your Harley's seat.

- Cross-tip screwdriver
- SAE hex socket set

Turn off the motorcycle ignition.

Open the rear tour pack, if present.

Unscrew the fastener on the top of the rear fender with a cross-tip screwdriver. The fastener holds the seat in place.

Loosen and remove the left and right fasteners for Softail models, using a hex socket. These fasteners are on the lower sides of the seat.

Pull the seat up and back toward the rear of the motorcycle. Place the seat in a safe, out-of-the-way location to avoid damage.
